Unfortunately, I don't really get a sense of what the food is, but I sense a really melancholy attitude, almost forlorn and distant, which I really like. I also like how it loops back on itself when its done, it gives it a nice sense of closure.
It sounds like a fruitcake recipe almost. Is it? Some sort of fruitbread? The forgotten/stale part makes me think of that too.
I think it's a bread pudding.
